If the EGS sets a trend with this we'll just end up with the netflix problem in streaming services where nobody is actually "competing" with each other, the platforms are just their own micro bubbles with the properties they've signed exclusivity deals to show with nobody else available to show those titles. At this point all we've only had to deal with is publisher exclusives. And given the circumstances i can't say the hate is necessarily unwarranted. Steam and its functionality is a big selling point for a lot of people. Since many of these titles were either slated to come to steam or already had store pages of their own and were accepting preorders. Most of epic's exclusive acquisitions feel extremely bait and switchy. They were explicitly asked if they wanted a steam key even a few months before the deal, and then bang bait and switch enjoy the EGS exclusive. People backed that literal years ago when the EGS probably wasn't even a sperm in tim sweeny's testicle. In the case of things like Shenmue III i'd tend to disagree. (Personally I think the amount of outrage is a little silly but ¯_(ツ)_/¯)
